Lets talk implantation bleeding

Isn't it funny how when you are researching a sign, symptom or feeling that you only tend to look for those that are positive outcomes and don't like reading the stories that may indicate you are indeed not pregnant? You google anything about being nauseas, BB's hurting and you'll get loads of 'you might be preggas' come up. Its just like when you have cold symptoms or a sore eye or a rash and you google these symptoms there will always be an answer that tells you you are extremely ill or may in fact have cancer....So its hard to decipher fact from fiction which is what I'm going to try to do here. I'll put down what info I can find and then its up to you whether you want to read it all or just the stuff that may indicate you do have a bun in the oven....

I thought I'd write about implantation bleeding first up. Seeing as though I'm convinced this happened to me yesterday (although I'm sure it didn't and its the start of AF but I have a one tracked mind at the moment)

What is it? Implantation is where a light bleed occurs as the growing baby burrows into the lining of their mother's uterus (sounds like a wombat not a baby). The bleed is usually a very faint pink or brown spotting which is visible when wiping or can be mixed in with your CM. If it looks like your usual period does then sorry but its not implantation bleeding.

When does it happen? This is the part that varies quite a bit on websites. Some websites say that it can occur just before or around the time AF is due - around 12 days after the egg has been fertilised, or 'conceived' in the fallopian tube. Others say it happens around the time of ovulation. Others say 6-10 DPO. So yep I hope that cleared it up for you - it sure did for me! In summary it can happen between O and your AF DD. Hmmm......

What's happened to me? If my calculations (or rather those of my many iphone apps) are correct then I should of been due for AF yesterday. I went to the toilet and found that my cm was a very lightly tinged pink colour. I assumed AF was coming but nothing for the rest of the day. Then I went to the bathroom late arvo and when I wiped the same thing was there. Nothing today though, not even different coloured CM. But I do have cramps and bloating (which I've had since I ate about a million calories a day over Christmas..woops..) and sometimes I think I can feel discharge so I go to the bathroom but nope nothing.
Guess I just have to wait and see. I've told myself I'm not allowed to test for another 4 days. I swear I should invest in First Response tests - I've given them enough of my money so far! And I'm not having a blood test for another 2 weeks. I had one last week and it was BFN and she butchered my arm!!

Did any of you have implantation bleeding? If so comment below so we can all compare :)

Whats going on with me so far...

Hi again :)

I thought I'd give you some info about what's been happening since we decided to try for another little bubba (or new addition to our mad house either one) I've also put up some of my history on the right :)

Now I must warn you all before you read this or any other post. There will be a lot of 'ewww' moments in my blog posts (I am TTC remember) so instead of writing "sorry 'tmi" all the time I'm just going to put it out there now that most of my posts will contain TMI. So please do read on but know that I'm not going to put 'tmi' after everything I write :)

Also for those of you who aren't yet as obsessed as me and aren't sure of the TTC lingo I've put a little cheat sheet on the right for you to refer to. Really I'm just lazy so don't want to type out all the words ;)

So I finished my birth control pill at the end of my cycle around the 20th December 2011 (here comes the ewwww parts) and went on 'fertility' mode. Thanks to smart phones I downloaded 5 different apps relating to fertility, ovulation, pregnancy and period tracking....all of which told me that I would be fertile and ovulate on a different day - helpful!! But then 2 weeks later (around 2nd Jan 2012) I started to have what looked like a small period. It increased to a mid-heavy then light bleeding and finished up around 4 days later. Now this is where I got confused. I had NO idea when/if I had ovulated and if I was experiencing a mid cycle bleed, an ovulation bleed (some facts on that to come later) or another period. So I kept tracking my fertile days on the basis that it was just bc I came off the pill and therefore I could of been pregnant. Of course this was my 'wishful thinking' self and convincing myself of something that I knew wasn't the case. After a few trips to the doctor and about a bazillion BFN HPT's later we figured out that because I came off the pill my body got confused and made me have a period two weeks later (facts on coming off birth control to come later) which means that I ovulated two weeks later than I thought. My AF DD was yesterday. These are my symptoms so far:
  • Cramping
  • Bloating
  • Nausea
  • Pulling feeling
  • Small amount of pinkish tinge in my CM on my AF DD
  • BB's large and sore (DH likes the large part but doesn't get to enjoy them due to the sore part)
  • Fatigue (I do however have 2 children, 3 if you include the DH, so I have fatigue all the time)
Most of the above symptoms are what I usually have right around the time that I get AF so I cant be sure that they are even relevant. And I do feel like AF is on her way. Isn't it funny how every single symptom that we get we are so sure its got to be due to pregnancy. I honestly think that we can think so hard about the symptoms that we make ourselves have them. I'm sure I've had nausea since 20th Dec! :)

So that's where I'm at.

In my upcoming blog posts I'll be talking about symptoms, signs, coming off birth control, ovulation bleeding, ovulation dates, implantation bleeding and more.

If there's anything you want to ask please feel free to comment below and I'll do my best to help you sort out fact from fiction.

Thanks for reading and baby dust to all of you trying! (on every forum everyone says baby dust so thought I may as well do the same)

Hi!

Allow me to introduce myself - my name is Mandi O and I am a mum of two absolutely adorable children (I'm not biased - honest). Call us crazy but my husband and I have decided that now is the perfect time to try and get pregnant for the 3rd and (absolutely) final time. We've not been trying that much yet I find myself becoming obsessed with everything pregnancy related. I'm charting my temperature, researching every little symptom I think may be related and I seem to convince myself that yep in fact I have every symptom!! Except I'm not pregnant....I've learned all the lingo; TTC, CM, BB's, BBT....

There are SOOOO many sites and forums that have people listing their symptoms, signs and questions yet noone answers! They all just write their own symptoms, signs and more questions! And then noone ever bothers to repost to say if their symptoms were actually pregnancy related or they (like me) just convinced themselves and nope, not to be...so its a bit hard to compare!

I thought i'd start this blog to further my obsession...by recording everything for all to read! :) I will also do some research for you ladies that are in the same boat as I am and try to sort out as much fact from fiction that I can :) I'd love to hear your stories also.

Thanks for reading!
